Brooks was due to be a free agent in the offseason and the Rockets were not likely to be able to re-sign him.

The deal isn’t the only one the Rockets made at the trade deadline, also sending Shane Battier to Memphis for Hasheem Thabeet and a draft pick.

From both trades, it’s clear that the Rockets have given up on the current group of players and are looking to go into a full rebuild.

You have to wonder if that also means the team may look to buy out or trade Yao Ming, depending upon whether he is every healthy again or not.

Many felt the Rockets could be a legit contender in the Western Conference if Yao came back healthy.

The team has been slowed by injuries to point guards Aaron Brooks and Kyle Lowry, forcing a shuffling of the starting lineup.

Head coach Rick Adelman is also having to try and gameplan around doctors orders that Yao play no more than 24 minutes per game.

He also only plays one game when the team has contests on consecutive days, which has made it hard to develop a chemistry.

Yao is much more upbeat from just a month or so ago when he said he didn’t know how effective he could be this year.

Doctors have cleared Yao, saying his surgically repaired foot is fully healed, which may have given him a confidence boost.

He said he is less afraid to test his foot than he was a couple of months ago, which is definitely all about having confidence in it.

The Rockets would certainly benefit in a huge way if they can get their best player back on the court.

Just like Perry’s past works–Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Madea’s Family Reunion, Meet the Browns, Madea Goes to Jail and I Can Do Bad All By Myself–this one is a mix of stand-up comedy, drama and a church revival. The plot centers around Shirley, Madea’s close friend, who is dying of cancer. She needs to gather her five adult children (and their families), but there’s too much standing in the way for everyone to get together!
